Job Title: Production Scheduler

Department: Plant Administration

Reports To: Plant Manager

FLSA – Salary, Exempt

Summary: The Production Scheduler is responsible for planning the work schedule for all manufacturing work cells and centers to insure timely delivery to customers, while maintaining the maximum efficiencies. Ensure to follow quality standards for both Laminate Technologies and our customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Plan daily ongoing manufacturing production schedules based on current and incoming orders and material availability to insure timely delivery of product to customers for the Oregon and Washington Facilities.

2. Review a plan for a comprehensive schedule for the production department no less than 36-48 hours (LAM, HSP and FAB) prior to the start of production to provide ample time for the production team to organize/stage the raw materials.

3. Provide a comprehensive schedule packet to the production department work centers that is prearranged to maximize efficiency. Future Schedules must be issued to the production department work centers by Noon, a minimum of 24 hours prior to running the scheduled being issued. The scheduling packets to include; the schedule, bundle tags, dispatch reports, etc., to the production floor daily. The scheduling packets must allow for adequate time (Hours / days) between each manufacturing processes, to include shipping, to provide flexibility for the manufacturing team.

4. Clearly communicate future machine capacity demand (This week, next week, following week) along with equivalent labor requirements to allow production leaders to plan labor and capacity. Discuss the upcoming capacity constraints/surplus with PM’s. Allow production leaders to add/subtract labor/capacity to meet the upcoming requirements and to be proactive in communicating work schedules to the production team without impacting Customer ship dates.

5. Review daily completion of jobs for Work Center schedules and re-schedule non-completed jobs in priority based on Customer ship / need date.

6. Provide proactive updates to Manufacturing Leadership, Purchasing, CSR and Sales on potential material interruptions or availability of materials in inventory that may result in future missed Customer shipments. Proactively plan by reviewing efficiencies, dispatch reports and through-put information available in Syspro.

7. Communicate to the Manufacturing Leadership group any inefficiencies in work centers, products, specific materials, Shift or Operator that are causing interruptions in Customer orders or contributing to the lack of meeting established manufacturing goals.

8. Review and effectively update Operation run rates in Syspro. Updating the run rates in the system every 3 months.

9. Manage stocking programs in coordination with ICC and Manufacturing Leadership

10. Be the advocate for Customers to ensure manufacturing is meeting or exceeding Customer ship / need dates.

11. Provide scheduling packets, to include, the schedule, bundle tags, dispatch reports, etc., to the production floor daily.

12. Analyzes individual work center loads and assign the jobs accordingly for maximum efficiencies, including maintaining multiple jobs running simultaneously.

13. Monitor, analyze and report performance to schedule of all production activities utilizing information derived from material and production control systems.

14. Provide direction and help to improve manufacturing efficiencies.

15. Coordinate shipments with customer service to maximize truckload weights and meet customer demands.

16. Coordinate customer’s order timeframes with sales and customer service to provide best lead times, ensuring on-time delivery.

17. Must have the ability to recognize potential issues, report them and determine solutions to eliminate production interruptions, lack of maximum efficiencies and missed customer shipment deadlines.

18. Work with manufacturing staff to determine the progress of work and completion dates.

19. Support production scheduling systems for the four (4) sister off site production facilities, if needed.

20. Assist with inventory control and cycle counts when needed.

21. Produce reports on lead time and forecasting.

22. Back-up scheduler for in-bound and out-bound trucking, if needed.

23. Compile, sort, and verify accuracy of data before entering into system to include prior to issuing job packets to the production work centers.

24. Compare data with source documents, or re-enter data in verification format to detect errors. Verify all data enter in to databases is correct and accurate.

25. File, maintain and store completed documents and records in appropriate locations.

26. Locate and correct data entry errors, or report them to supervisors.

27. Review documents, such as production schedules, work orders, or inventory databases to determine materials required and material priorities.

28. Maintain inventory of materials and supplies to meet production demands.

29. Confer with department supervisors or other personnel on inventory matters.

30. Proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, and ability to utilize procurement software.

31. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have an in depth understanding of MRP systems. Familiarity with SysPro scheduling module is a plus. College degree in supply chain management, or equivalent preferred, but not required with 5 years’ experience in production scheduling. Computer literate and experience with Word and Excel experience. Willing to travel to and in support of other manufacturing facilities when necessary.

Education:
